Dehradun, 31 Dec: On Wednesday, members of the Uttarakhand United Divyang Cricket Association paid a courtesy call on Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd) at the Lok Bhawan, here.
During the meeting, they informed the Governor that the Indian Wheelchair Cricket Team had recently delivered an outstanding performance in an international T-20 tournament held in Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh). Competing against teams from India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal, the Indian team defeated Sri Lanka in the final to emerge as champions.
Three players associated with the Uttarakhand United Divyang Cricket Association—team captain Manoj Parmar, Vikas Lamba, and Harendra Singh—made significant contributions to this achievement.
On this occasion, the Governor congratulated the players on their success and extended his best wishes. He said that the exceptional performance of divyang (persons with disabilities) players is a symbol of self-confidence, determination, and hard work, and serves as a source of inspiration for other players in the state and the country. The Governor expressed confidence that divyang athletes will continue to bring laurels to the state and the nation on national and international platforms in the future.
Association President Ganesh Sah and the participating players were also present on the occasion.
