Gov releases book on ‘Industry 5.0’

Dehradun, 9 May: Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) released a book, “Industry 5.0: Bridging Humanity and Technology for a Sustainable Future”, at the Raj Bhavan here on Friday. The book has been jointly edited by Prof Dharmbudhi, Prof Rajesh Singh, and Prof Anita Gehlot from Uttaranchal University.

On the occasion, the Governor said that the book offers a glimpse into the forthcoming industrial revolution, where technology is integrated with human values such as ethics, empathy, and sustainability. He stated that the book reflects the vision of a developed India and is a commendable step towards building a technology-driven, inclusive, and sustainable nation.

The Governor emphasised that, when technology is aligned with the welfare of humanity, it leads to the creation of a better, healthier, and more prosperous society. Technological progress, he said, should focus on the well-being of individuals and communities. It is essential to ensure that technology not only simplifies life but also makes it more just, inclusive, and sustainable.

Highlighting the potential of India’s youth and ancient wisdom, the Governor said that combining these strengths with modern technology can enable India to lead this transformation. He noted that the book goes beyond discussing technological advancement—it envisions a future where industries empower communities and improve people’s lives. He congratulated the entire administration of Uttaranchal University for this meaningful initiative.

Addressing the gathering, Prof Dharmbudhi, Vice Chancellor of Uttaranchal University, spoke about the book’s forward-looking and grassroots-level academic relevance. He remarked that the book beautifully captures the essence of Industry 5.0, which emphasises collaboration between social benefits and intelligent machines.

The event was attended by Additional Secretary Swati S Bhadauria, Vice Chairperson of the Centre for Vocational Studies and Research, Anuradha Joshi, Vice Chairperson of Uttaranchal University Ankita Joshi, Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Rajesh Bahuguna, and other faculty members. The event was conducted by Prof Anita Gehlot.
