Gov to inaugurate conclave on sanitation organised by Cantt Board in Doon

Dehradun, 1 Feb: A two day conclave titled ‘Swachhta Chaupal’ is being organised by the Cantonment Board, Dehradun, beginning Friday. This type of Chaupal is being organised for the first time in the state, in which experts working on sanitation, industries making machines and equipment for sanitation, departments and officers responsible for cleanliness, and heads of local bodies will hold discussions on a single platform.

Chief Executive Officer of Cantonment Board Abhinav Singh shared this information with the media, today. He said that this is an innovative experiment. For a long time, the idea of organising such a programme was being discussed by the Cantonment Board. The Chaupal would bring together organisations and people working in the field of sanitation across the country, as well as technical experts on sanitation matters, companies and start-ups making sanitation equipment, sellers and buyers of those equipment, government departments and municipal bodies. This programme is being organised in collaboration with the Uttarakhand Directorate of Urban Development, while the Dehradun based think tank SDC Foundation, led by Anoop Nautiyal, is involved as a knowledge partner.

The main feature of the Chaupal is that it will be attended by commissioners, chairpersons, mayors of all the municipal bodies of the state. Officers and employees associated with the Panchayati Raj Department will also participate. This programme will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both the days at Mahendra Grounds in Dehradun Cantt and it will be inaugurated on 3 February at 10.30 a.m. by Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd).
