Dehradun, 19 Aug: Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd) inaugurated 3-day free dental camp for exservicemen and their families at the Military Dental Centre, Dehradun, on Tuesday. The camp, being organized under the aegis of Headquarters Uttarakhand Sub Area, will run from 19th to 21st August. The objective of the camp is to create awareness among exservicemen and their dependents about oral health and to provide them with essential dental care services. The programme has been organized through the joint efforts of the Uttarakhand Sub Area and the Military Dental Centre, with active support from Station Units, ECHS Polyclinic Dehradun, and dental officers as well as para-dental staff from Clement Town.
Speaking on the occasion, the Governor said that the dental camp is a highly commendable initiative to ensure the well-being of our brave exservicemen and their families. He emphasized that providing quality and accessible healthcare services to exservicemen and their dependents is a collective responsibility. Highlighting the importance of oral health, the Governor remarked, “Today’s camp is dedicated to dental health. Often, we underestimate dental and oral hygiene, considering it a minor issue. But the truth is that oral health is the key to overall health. The mouth is the gateway to the body; if this gateway is unhealthy, the entire body becomes vulnerable to diseases.” He urged exservicemen to take full benefit of this camp.
On the occasion, GOC Sub Area, Major General MPS Gill, said that the camp is a symbol of gratitude and service toward sex-servicemen and their families, strengthening the bond of commitment with them. Dr. Himanshu Airan shared valuable insights on dental health with the participants.
Among those present were Commandant Military Hospital Brigadier Parikshit Singh, Station Commander Dehradun Brigadier RS Thapa, Brigadier Prabhakaran (Deputy GOC, Golden Key Division, Clement Town), UKESL Chairman Major General (Retd) ML Aswal, Director Sainik Welfare Brigadier Amrit Lal (Retd.), along with several senior officers and exservicemen.
