Dehradun, 15 Jan: The State Government has approved the regularisation of 268 Assistant Professors in the Higher Education Department. Departmental Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat has given his approval to the regularisation proposal submitted by the department. These Assistant Professors, appointed in various subjects and posted in government colleges across the state, have successfully completed their two-year probation period. The Assistant Professors expressed their gratitude to the Departmental Minister and the State Government for the timely regularisation.
The State Government is continuously making efforts to enhance academic quality, innovation, experimental, and research-based activities in higher education. The government is also consistently working on the appointment and training of teachers in government colleges. The State Government has approved the regularisation of 268 Assistant Professors who completed their two-year probation period in various government colleges. These Assistant Professors were appointed between the years 2020 and 2022 and have been granted benefits under the Uttarakhand Government Servants Regularisation Rules–2002.
These Assistant Professors belong to 13 different subjects, including 71 in Political Science, 26 in Education, 35 in Sanskrit, 71 in Hindi, 5 in Sociology, 4 in History, 2 each in Geography and Physics, 35 in Economics, 13 in Home Science, and 1 each in Chemistry, Zoology, and English. Under the Higher Education (Group ‘A’) Service Rules–2003, there is a provision for regularising the appointments of such teachers whose work and conduct are satisfactory, whose integrity is certified, and whom the appointing authority deems fit for regularisation.
The State Government firmly believes that providing teachers with a secure, permanent, and dignified service environment is the foundation of quality education. The regularisation of professors will not only ensure their job security but will also further strengthen academic continuity and educational quality in higher education institutions.
“Approval has been granted for the regularisation of 268 professors under the Higher Education Department who have successfully completed their probation period. This decision reflects the State Government’s sensitivity towards the interests of employees as well as its commitment to strengthening higher education,” stated Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, Higher Education Minister.
