Govt changes names of two centrally funded schemes

Dehradun, 28 Sep: Uttarakhand government has changed the name of the ambitious ‘Rural Enterprise Acceleration Project (REAP)’. In fact, as per the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the names of centrally funded and state-funded schemes are being simplified. Under this, the name of this project has been revised with the aim of providing benefits to the villagers.

In this sequence, the Dhami government has changed the name of ‘Rural Enterprise Acceleration Project’. Now it will be known as ‘Gramothan Yojana’. The objective of this scheme is to empower the livelihood of rural poor families by linking them with entrepreneurship. Apart from this, the name of ‘Rural Business Incubator Scheme’ has also been revised. Now it has been named ‘Chief Minister Udyamshala Yojana’. This scheme provides financial assistance and training to rural entrepreneurs.

The objective of “Chief Minister Udyamshala Yojana” is to provide entrepreneurship and self-employment opportunities to the youth and women of the rural areas of the state. Under this scheme, individual beneficiaries as well as community based organisations have been included, which will strengthen the rural economy.

It is worth noting that in the year 2021-22, the state government started the operation of the Rural Enterprise Acceleration Project (REAP) to increase the income of the villagers by setting up small industries in the rural areas of the state. Under this, financial assistance is provided to the villagers on the basis of grant to set up enterprises like food processing, hatchery unit. In the project, 50 percent of the total cost of setting up the enterprise is financed through a bank loan, 20 percent beneficiary contribution and 30 percent financial assistance is given by the REAP project. Now its new name has become ‘Gramothan Yojana’.

At the same time, Rural Business Incubator (RBI) is a collaborative program run by the Uttarakhand government to promote rural entrepreneurship. This programme helps the youth with new business ideas, new startups, nano enterprises to succeed in their business goals. This programme aims to connect the entrepreneurship of the incubates with the mainstream of the state and the nation by giving

them various assistance, advice and training. Now its new name has been kept as ‘Chief Minister Udyamshala Yojana’.
