Khatima, 1 Mar: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the ‘Perovskite Society of India Meet-2023’ based on solar energy held at IIT Roorkee. He participated in the meet on a virtual mode from Khatima. On this occasion, the CM congratulated the team of IIT Roorkee and Perovskite Society of India for organising this seminar with the aim of promoting solar energy. He also asserted that it was a top priority of the government to ensure uninterrupted continuous supply of power to each and every home of Uttarakhand including in the remote areas.
The Chief Minister said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is continuously working to achieve complete security and independence in the energy sector by promoting alternative energy resources in India. Today, a seminar based on the evolutionary thinking of energy security and self-reliance is being organised in Roorkee. Continuous guidance is being given by the Prime Minister to increase participation in the country’s progress through solar energy and other alternative energy sources.”
Dhami added that due to favourable weather conditions that prevail in the state, there are immense possibilities of developing projects related to solar energy in Uttarakhand. The state government is making efforts to bring a “energy revolution” in the state by making adequate use of the immense resources of solar energy. Solar energy can prove to be very effective in meeting energy needs in remote areas of Uttarakhand. Availability of solar energy at affordable rates can be extremely beneficial for the residents of hills and inaccessible areas. This is the reason why the use of solar energy in inaccessible areas is increasing day by day.
The CM said that to make Uttarakhand one of the leading states of the country by 2025, the government is moving forward with resolve. It is the priority of the government to ensure uninterrupted power supply to every household in the state. To fulfil this, the state government is also committed to promoting the use of solar energy in the state. He expressed hope that the dignitaries interested in the field of science would give their valuable suggestions for the efficient operation of solar energy in Uttarakhand through the seminar. He expressed hope that this seminar would prove helpful in developing a roadmap with which the government will be able to make maximum use of solar energy in the state of Uttarakhand as well as in the whole of India.
On this occasion, MLA Roorkee Pradeep Batra, Director of IIT Roorkee Prof KK Pant and Prof Soumitra Satpathi and other scientists from different states were present.
