Govt committed to providing best facilities for skill development: Dhami

Technical Education Dept holds employment fair

Dehradun, 5 Jun: An Employment Fair was held here today at which Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami presented appointment letters to 272 candidates.

The Employment Fair was organised by the Technical Education Department. This fair follows a similar one organised in May for the students of Polytechnics, which was also organised by the Department of Technical Education. After the selection of these students in various companies, appointment letters were handed over to them today by Chief Minister Dhami and Technical Education Minister Subodh Uniyal.

The Chief Minister congratulated all the students who received the appointment letters and wished them a bright future. He said that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the campaign in the field of employment and self-employment for the youth of the country has been going on for 9 years. Employment fairs are being regularly organised.

He added that there is no dearth of talent in Uttarakhand. Efforts should be made by the government to provide modern facilities for training in various technical institutions, infrastructure development, establishment of high level e-learning centres, expansion of various technical institutes, establishment of research and training centres in order to provide proper opportunities for employment and self-employment to the youth. The aim of the government is to develop the state in the field of information technology and provide good governance by transparently solving the problems of the people. The Technical Education Department could play an important role in this work.

The Chief Minister added that the enthusiasm and talent is being reflected in the students given appointment letters today. He expressed the hope that, with the same enthusiasm, they would live up to the expectations of the companies employing them. He also urged the representatives of industries to cooperate with the state government on internship, industrial training as well as hands-on practical training and in providing more opportunities to the students of Uttarakhand. The CM said that the government has taken 25 resolutions for the silver jubilee of the state’s founding. In this, the technical education department has been given the responsibility of implementing the Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali Vocational Education Mission scheme. He hoped that, with this effort, employment and self-employment opportunities would increase in the state through vocational and technical education.

Congratulating all the candidates who received the appointment letters, Technical Education Minister Subodh Uniyal said that, today, the dream of these youths to get a job after completing their studies is being fulfilled. He hoped that all the candidates would work with full dedication in these establishments. The Technical Education Minister added that an amount of over Rs 300 crore was spent in the past one year to create better infrastructure facilities in the polytechnics of the state. Courses have been increased in the state on the basis of their market demand after meeting with the industry. He said that 60 percent youths are being selected through job fairs. Almost 100 percent students are also getting selected from some polytechnics.

On this occasion, it was revealed that, on 25 April this year, 430 students got employment in the job fair organised at the Government Polytechnic in Kashipur for students studying in various polytechnic institutions of Kumaon region. Similarly, about 608 youths got employment in the job fair organised on 8 May for the Garhwal region. In addition to providing employment to 401 students through online placement cell and 669 students through campus placement organised in various institutions, a total of 2108 students had got employment.

On this occasion, MLAs Pramod Nainwal, Suresh Singh Chauhan, Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Secretary Ravinath Raman, Director, Technical Education, RP Gupta, Director General, UCOST, Prof Durgesh Pant and officers of the Technical Education Department were also present.
