Dehradun, 14 Jun: On the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Garhwal Commissioner and Chairman of Char Dham Yatra Administration, Vinay Shankar Pandey, has issued orders ending the prescribed daily limit for pilgrims visiting the Char Dham shrines from Rishikesh and Haridwar for the convenience of the yatris.

Pandey added that, in view of the crowd reaching a manageable level in all the four Dhams at present, it has been decided in public interest as per the instructions of the Chief Minister that the daily quota which was fixed for the darshan of the four Dhams in Rishikesh and Haridwar would now be removed. He said that now the pilgrims can go on their journey easily by physically appearing at the registration counters for the Yatra in Rishikesh or Haridwar and getting direct registration of all the four Dhams /two Dhams or any Dham. This order will come into effect with immediate effect.

Pandey added there has been an unexpected increase in the number of Char Dham pilgrims this year as compared to previous years. Last year, 12.35 lakhs of devotees had visited the Dhams within a month of the start of Char Dham Yatra, whereas this year 19.65 lakh of devotees have visited the four Dhams, so far. This, he reminded is about one and a half times more this year as compared to last year.
