Dehradun, 22 Dec: Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, today constituted a draft committee of 5 top officers to be chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, to examine the recommendations received on the Land Laws. It may be recalled that several organisations in Uttarakhand led by Bhu Kanoon and Mool Niwas Swabiman Samiti are currently engaged in a campaign in support of their demand to incorporate strong land laws in the country to prevent “outsiders” from purchasing land in the state. The latest move by the Government is being seen in this context.
The CM today constituted a committee of five members regarding land law. Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has been made the chairperson of the committee. While Principal Secretary Justice Department has been made a member. At the same time, Secretary Revenue Department, Uttarakhand has also been made a member. Secretary General Administration Uttarakhand has also been made a member. Jagdish Kandpal, Additional Secretary to the Chief Minister, has also been made a member. This committee will study and examine amendments in the Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Abolition and Land System Act 1950 and then make its recommendations in respect of amendments that can be incorporated in the state land laws. The committee has been named Land Law Committee.
It may be recalled that a grand rally has been summoned by many organisations on 24 December to press for strong land laws to prevent outsiders from purchasing land. In view of this proposed rally, the government appears to have rushed to constitute this land laws committee.
