Dehradun, 3 Apr: BJP today asserted that there will be no shortage of LPG or petroleum products along the Char Dham Yatra routes. BJP State president and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt today claimed that the BJP government is fully prepared to ensure uninterrupted supply at dhabas, restaurants, hotels and fuel stations during the pilgrimage season.

Welcoming the Centre’s decision to increase the LPG quota for Uttarakhand by an additional 6 per cent, Bhatt expressed gratitude and said the move would further strengthen the state’s preparedness for the upcoming yatra. He assured that under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, this year’s Char Dham Yatra would be conducted in a successful, smooth and safe manner, while also setting new benchmarks. He appealed to the public to refrain from spreading or paying heed to rumours regarding shortages of LPG, petrol or diesel along the pilgrimage routes.

Mentioning the prevailing geopolitical tensions in the Gulf region, Bhatt claimed that both the Centre and the state government are closely monitoring the availability of LPG and petroleum products and have taken proactive measures to maintain adequate supply. With the Char Dham Yatra scheduled to begin on 19 April, he emphasised that the government is treating supply management as a priority area to ensure that pilgrims and tourists do not face any inconvenience.

Bhatt also noted that there is currently sufficient stock of LPG and petroleum products at both the national and state levels, adding that the Centre had already allocated an additional 20 per cent quota to Uttarakhand in anticipation of increased demand. The recent 6 per cent enhancement, he said, would address concerns regarding LPG availability at eateries and hospitality establishments operating along the yatra routes. Similarly, he added that the state government is taking coordinated steps to ensure that petrol, diesel and CNG supplies remain stable and accessible throughout the pilgrimage period.

Bhatt described the Char Dham Yatra as the economic backbone of Uttarakhand, with livelihoods of lakhs of people directly or indirectly dependent on it. In this context, he urged all stakeholders, including local residents and business operators, to avoid engaging in unverified or unauthorised claims regarding shortages of essential commodities, as such rumours could adversely impact the pilgrimage and tourism activities. He maintained that the state government’s arrangements would ensure that no pilgrim faces any difficulty related to food, accommodation or fuel during the yatra.
