Dehradun, 8 Mar: On the occasion of International Women’s Day, today, Graphic Era felicitated Nitika Khandelwal, Principal Controller, Defence Accounts(Indian Air Force); Alka Sharma; former Additional Transport Commissioner, Sunita Singh; Principal of St Jude’s School Violet Rita Gardner; Sadhvi Bhagwati Saraswati of Parmarth Niketan, Rishikesh; Gynaecologist Dr Archana Luthra; RJ Devangana and social worker Madhuri Sahasrabuddhe for their significant contribution in various fields.
On this occasion, officiating DM Nitika said that women should choose their own path of success.
Graphic Era Deemed University and Graphic Era Hill University jointly organised this event at which Nitika Khandelwal said that the time had come to change the mindset of the people. The notion needed to be changed that only men can take the responsibility of doing outside work. Also, household work needed equal recognition. Nitika Khandelwal was felicitated for her exemplary work during the Covid-19 pandemic for saving Dehradun and not letting anyone sleep on an empty stomach.
Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati was felicitated for her commendable work in the field of women empowerment and child education. She said that every woman has the power within her, she doesn’t need empowerment, all she needs is equality.
Former Additional Transport Commissioner Sunita Singh said that power is in knowledge and that is why it is required for every woman to be educated. The constitution has provided equal rights to women; society needs to accept this fact. Women need to be financially independent.
Present on this occasion were Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University Prof (Dr) RC Joshi, Pro Vice Chancellor Dr HN Nagaraja, Vice Chancellor, Graphic Era Hill University, Prof (Dr) Sanjay Jasola, faculty and students of both universities.
