Dehradun, 14 Apr: Dr Narpinder Singh, Vice Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University, has been elected as a Fellow of the International Academy of Food Science and Technology (IAFoST). This honour has been conferred upon him for his outstanding research, innovation, and academic leadership in the field of food science.
The Canada based International Academy of Food Science and Technology (IAFoST) is a distinguished global body of leading food scientists, where membership is granted only to those who have made exceptional and impactful contributions to the field. This achievement reflects Dr Singh’s years of research dedication, innovative thinking, and academic excellence. His inclusion in this prestigious group is not only a personal milestone but also a matter of pride for Graphic Era, highlighting his global recognition and credibility. Dr Singh will be formally honoured with this prestigious recognition at the 23rd World Congress of Food Science and Technology in Hong Kong.
Sharing his thoughts on this achievement, Dr Singh said that the IAFoST fellowship is a blend of pride, inspiration, and responsibility for him. He described it not as an individual accomplishment, but as a collective outcome of the efforts of his students, research collaborators, and colleagues. He added that such global recognition energises his work further and inspires him to fulfill his responsibilities toward society more diligently. Dr Singh emphasised that science should not remain confined to laboratories but must benefit every section of society.
Recently, he was also featured in the global top 2% scientists list released by Elsevier and Stanford University, where he secured the top rank in India in agriculture and food science. As a JC Bose National Fellow (DST), he continues to lead advanced research projects and is among India’s most cited scientists, with over 35,000 citations and an h-index exceeding 97. He is also a Fellow of several prestigious academies, including the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), National Academy of Sciences India (NASI), and the Royal Society of Chemistry.
On this occasion, Chairman of Graphic Era Group of Institutions Dr Kamal Ghanshala, along with the entire Graphic Era family, congratulated Dr Narpinder Singh on this achievement. He stated that Dr Singh’s recognition among the world’s top scientists is a testament to his talent, dedication, and research excellence, and described it as an inspiring milestone for the institution.
