Graphic varsity honours Speaker, Commissioner on Women’s Day

DEHRADUN, 8 Mar: Speaker of Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Ritu Khanduri said that more women should join politics. They have the power to transform both the condition and direction of society.

Speaker Ritu Khanduri was addressing a ceremony at Graphic Era on the occasion of International Women’s Day as Chief Guest. She said that women should be respected throughout the year. Today’s women are supporting their families even by selling tea, driving rickshaws. They are capable of achieving great accomplishments. She highlighted that various schemes have been running in the state focussing on girl’s education and skills development as well as 50% reservation in panchayat and 33% reservation in assembly to increase their participation in various sectors. Khanduri urged that homemakers should be given the same respect as working women.

Municipal Commissioner of Dehradun Namami Bansal shared her experiences and said that women should focus on themselves along with their families. Being happy is as important as being financially independent. She further added that celebrating small achievements is necessary to achieve greater success and pursuing things that will make the parents feel proud.

In the ceremony, vice-chairperson of Graphic Era Group of Institutions Rakhi Ghanshala encouraged women to believe in themselves and keep moving forward. Graphic Era Hospital’s Gynecologist Divya Mishra shed light on the importance of women’s health. Speaker Ritu Khanduri,  Namani Bansal and Divya Mishra along with women who have been serving at Graphic Era for two decades were honoured. Including Ruchira Rawat, Kiran Sharma, Shalini Singh and others.

On this occasion more than 250 women workers of Graphic Era were felicitated.

Female officials, teachers and students from Graphic Era Deemed University and Graphic Era Hill University were present in the ceremony. The event was hosted by Bharti Sharma and Taha Siddiqui.
