Mussoorie, 8 Jan: A grocery shop on South Road near Landour Bazaar was gutted in a fire due to which heavy loss was incurred by the shopkeeper as most of the goods were burnt.
The incident took place late at night when smoke was seen coming out of the shop. Information about this was given to the shopkeeper by a neighbour. The shopkeeper and other locals rushed to the shop and informed the fire station. After a lot of effort the fire was controlled but, by then, most of the material was damaged. By the time the fire service reached the spot, the fire had been put out.
Local resident Paramvir Kharola said that along with the shopkeeper, Ranjit Rawat, the shop was opened and the fire put out with water and mud. He said the shopkeeper was poor and had suffered great loss due to the fire. He has sought help from the local administration and Mussoorie MLA for the shopkeeper.
