Gurukul Ayurvedic College organises centenary celebrations

Dehradun, 22 Apr: Governor Lt-General Gurmit Singh (Retd) virtually addressed the centenary celebrations of the establishment of Gurukul Ayurvedic College, Haridwar as the Chief Guest from Raj Bhavan on Saturday. On completion of 100 years of establishment of Gurukul Ayurvedic College established by freedom fighter and great educationist Swami Shraddhanand ji, he extended hearty congratulations and best wishes to all the people associated with the institution.

Lt-General Singh said that Ayurveda is not just a medical science but an art of living.  Ayurveda has a special role in health protection and health promotion. Today, the role of Ayurvedic medicines in improving the immunity for protection against diseases has stood the test of science. Recently, the efficacy of Ayurveda medicine has been proved in the Corona epidemic.

The Governor said that according to the rules of Ayurveda, if we follow our routine, night routine as well as ritual, then we can save ourselves from falling ill. Panchakarma therapy, Ksharsutra therapy, use of chemical herbs are such disciplines of Ayurveda which have played an important role in the globalization of Ayurveda. The Governor said that eminent physicians and doctors who acquired education from this institute have contributed significantly in the promotion of this education.

He further added that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand is the birthplace of Ayurveda. The sages from the Himalayan region have given the mantra to attain physical and mental health through Yoga and Ayurveda. He said that Yoga, Ayurveda and Marma Chikitsa are such methods which have an important role in the context of human health in present times. It is a matter of pleasure that Uttarakhand Ayurveda University and its affiliated colleges are playing an important role in promoting the ancient method of Ayurveda – ‘Marma Chikitsa’.
