Dehradun, 8 Feb: The 38th National Games, currently being held across various venues in Uttarakhand, witnessed an exciting start to gymnastics on its 11th day. The competitions occurred at the Bhagirathi Hall of Rajeev Gandhi International Stadium in Dehradun, where athletes from different states showcased their strength, agility, and determination in various gymnastics disciplines.
Maharashtra dominated the gymnastics events, clinching multiple gold medals and solidifying its position at the top of the leaderboard. In the Acrobatic Mixed category, Maharashtra secured gold with an impressive score of 19.01, while West Bengal followed closely with 18.79 to claim silver. Delhi took home the bronze with a score of 13.61.
The Acrobatic Women’s Group competition saw Maharashtra continuing its winning streak, taking gold with a remarkable score of 22.39. West Bengal finished in second place with 19.99, while Karnataka secured the bronze with 19.62.
Maharashtra completed a hat-trick of gold medals in the Acrobatic Men’s Group event, once again scoring 22.39. West Bengal and Karnataka repeated their performances in the women’s event, taking silver and bronze with identical scores of 19.99 and 19.62, respectively.
The Aerobics Group event showcased Maharashtra’s continued dominance, as the state effortlessly secured another gold medal with a score of 15.50. Manipur put up a strong performance to claim silver with 15.35, while Gujarat earned bronze with 15.00.
In the Aerobic Trio category, Maharashtra once again emerged victorious with a gold medal-winning score of 16.25. West Bengal finished in second place with 15.75, while Gujarat rounded out the podium with a score of 15.35.
Although every team showcased something of their talent, hard work, and resilience with their unique performances, Maharashtra has firmly established itself as the top contender in gymnastics, leading the overall medal tally in the discipline. As the National Games progress, it will be intriguing to see whether Maharashtra maintains its dominance or if other states can rise to the challenge and shift the momentum in the upcoming events.
The 38th National Games have brought together some of the best athletes from across the country, and the level of competition continues to be intense.
