Haldwani violence: Police release posters of absconding accused

Dehradun/Haldwani, 16 Feb: Cases have been registered at Police Station Banbhulpura in connection with the violent incident of stone pelting, arson and firing on police, administration, municipal corporation and media personnel by miscreants during a demolition drive against illegal encroachments in Banbhulpura area on 8 February. Various teams have been formed by SSP, Nainital, Prahlad Narayan Meena under the supervision of Haldwani SP City to arrest the miscreants involved in the incident. Police have also released posters of 9 most wanted accused in connection with the violence.

So far, 42 miscreants have been arrested by police teams on the basis of CCTV scrutiny and other evidence. A large number of Illegal weapons and cartridges have also been recovered from their possession. Posters of 9 wanted rioters involved in the said violent incident have been released by the Police.

One significant development is that Haldwani Police SP City Harbans Singh has been transferred out and replaced by Prakash Chandra as the new City SP in Haldwani. Prakash Chandra has been transferred from Dehradun, while Harbans Singh has now been shifted as SP City, Nainital.

A large number of suspects are absconding. The main accused and conspirator Abdul Malik and his son, Moeed, are also absconding. Instructions to confiscate their property have been received from the court. In such a situation, the police have released posters of 9 absconding accused and started searching for them.

Nainital SSP Meena said that posters of all the wanted miscreants have been pasted at various places in the city. Police teams are continuously searching for these miscreants in all possible places so that they can be arrested as soon as possible.

SSP Meena has appealed to the people to give Nainital Police any useful information regarding the violence and the absconding miscreants on phone numbers 9411112743, 9411112741, 9411110396 and on police control room numbers 9411112979 or 9412087770.

Names of those whose posters have been released as Most Wanted by Nainital Police not only include Abdul Malik and his son Abdul Moeed but also Tasleem, son of Sabir Qureshi, Ayaz Ahmed, son of Shakil Ahmed, Mauqin Saifi, son of Naeem Saifi, Zia Ul Rehman, son of Akhlaq Hussain, Raees, son of Rafiq Ahmed, Shakeel Ansari, son of Zameel Ahmad, and Waseem, son of Anees Siddiqui.

It is apprehended that Abdul Malik might have fled or may be trying to flee to Nepal or other countries like Bangladesh, UAE, etc. Therefore, the police have sent an alert to all the outposts and police stations on the border.
