Dehradun, 8 Jun: The first season of the Uttarakhand Pickleball League (UPL) came to a spectacular and thrilling conclusion at the Pickleball Courts located at the Parade Ground, here, today. In an intense final showdown, Haridwar mashers showcased exceptional gameplay to clinch the championship title, while Tehri Warriors finished as the runners-up.
The Chief Guest for this sporting event was Sanjay Tolia (Deputy Secretary to the Chief Minister). The event also featured Dhirendra Panwar and Ashok Verma as the Guests of Honour, alongside Devendra Bisht and Sukhbeer. Other prominent attendees included Tulsi, Sanjay Thakur, Rakesh Thakur, Shobhit Sharma, Rakesh Premwani, Vikrant Thakur, Dr Archit, Utkarsh Bhardwaj, Ashish Patanjali, Anant Mishra, and Rajeev Negi.
The champions, Haridwar Smashers, were awarded a glittering trophy along with a prize cheque of Rs 3 Lakh. The runners-up, Tehri Warriors, were honoured with a trophy and a cheque of Rs 1 Lakh. All the distinguished guests motivated the players and presented the awards.
The entire league was successfully organised and managed under the supervision of Amit Kumar (Organiser).
The matches leading up to the final witnessed fierce competition. First Semifinal: Played between Nainital Kings and Tehri Warriors. Displaying an outstanding performance, Tehri Warriors secured their spot in the final with a 4–2 victory. Second Semifinal: Played between Dehradun Smash Force and Haridwar Smashers. Haridwar Smashers dominated the match with a 6–0 win to punch their ticket to the final.
The ultimate showdown took place between Tehri Warriors and Haridwar Smashers. Both teams exhibited incredible agility and coordination on the court. Ultimately, Haridwar Smashers won the highly exhilarating final by a 4–2 margin to become the inaugural champions of the Uttarakhand Pickleball League.
In their addresses, the Chief Guest, Guests of Honour, and the organisers praised the growing craze for pickleball in Uttarakhand. They emphasised that such events provide an excellent platform for the youth of the state to showcase their sporting talent. All participants were congratulated for making the league a resounding success.
