Dehradun, 20 Jul: Uttarakhand Health Department is finalising its plans to ensure a safe Kanwar Yatra this year. It may be recalled that the Kanwar Yatra this season is scheduled to formally begin on 30 July and continue till 11 August. The health department has reiterated its commitment to ensure that the pilgrimage remains safe, smooth and convenient for the devotees. In coordination with the district administration, extensive health arrangements are being put in place along the yatra route so that immediate medical assistance can be provided in case of any emergency.

Special health monitoring will be carried out at key points and designated check posts, with health teams remaining active throughout the pilgrimage to attend to the needs of devotees. Medical Relief Posts (MRPs) will be established at various locations along the route, each staffed with doctors, physicians, pharmacists, ward boys and nurses to provide prompt treatment and primary care to any pilgrim facing health issues. Adequate supplies of essential medicines, first aid materials and emergency facilities are being ensured, with instructions issued to all officials and medical staff to remain vigilant throughout the yatra period.

Chief Medical Officer Dehradun Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma stated that providing quality health services to devotees during the Kanwar Yatra is the department’s foremost priority. He informed that MRPs at identified points such as Shyampur Chowki and IDPL will operate round the clock, with doctors deployed in shifts as per roster. Ambulance facilities will also be available at bus stands and railway stations to ensure safe and uninterrupted travel for pilgrims.
