Joshimath, 31 Dec: A large number of tourists have turned up in Auli to celebrate the New Year. Cars full of tourists began arriving since this morning, as there has been good snowfall in Auli after many years in December.
There was also a large crowd at the ropeway in Joshimath to get to Auli. By afternoon, there were around six thousand tourists at this tourist spot. Similar numbers have been arriving in tourist spots nearby. Bookings had begun over a week ago at Auli’s hotels and huts, but there was an unprecedented turnout, today, which continued into the evening. They were delighted to enjoy the snow and the various activities available. All available accommodation is full. Many tourists have come with their own tents.
According to Assistant Tourism Officer Hira Lal Arya, over six thousand tourists have arrived in Auli.
