Dehradun, 28 Sep: A woman has approached the Chairperson of the Uttarakhand State Commission for Women, seeking action against her husband over allegations of death threats, verbal abuse, and mental and physical harassment.
According to the woman’s complaint, her husband, Maaz, allegedly married another woman in Saharanpur in December 2024 without her consent. She alleged that after the second marriage, her husband’s behaviour towards her changed and he allegedly began abusing and physically assaulting her. She further alleged that when she objected to the second marriage, her husband threatened to kill her. She stated that she was allegedly assaulted and forced out of the house following her protest.
The woman stated that she has been living at her parental home with her child for the past two years and alleged that her husband has made no effort to bring her back.
She also accused her husband of threatening her over the phone and making objectionable remarks about her family. She further alleged that her husband was attempting to forcibly take their minor son with him.
According to the complaint, police allegedly reached her residence on August 23, 2026, without a court order and pressured her to hand over the child to her husband.
Taking the matter seriously, the Chairperson of the Uttarakhand State Commission for Women has directed the SSP of Dehradun and Saharanpur to conduct an inquiry into the allegations and submit a report to the Commission.
