Dehradun, 30 Jun: IG, SDRF, Arun Mohan Joshi made a surprise visit to the SDRF Headquarters at Jolly Grant, here, today. He reviewed the preparations for the monsoon season, the upcoming Kanwar Yatra, and the ongoing rescue operations in the state.

During the visit, he held a meeting with SDRF Commandant Arpan Yaduvanshi and other senior officers and staff. He praised the SDRF teams for their quick and effective rescue work during recent disasters across Uttarakhand.

The IG gave clear instructions that SDRF teams must reach any emergency site quickly and start rescue work without delay. He also said that after every operation, feedback must be taken from the teams, and all required equipment should be provided immediately.

He especially mentioned the recent bus accident in Gholtir, Rudraprayag, and the cloudburst in Silai Bend, Uttarkashi. He directed that senior officers should be sent to such disaster sites to monitor and support SDRF operations.

The IG also asked them to modernise the SDRF control room with advanced communication tools, real-time mapping, and data analysis systems. This will help the control room act as the main guiding centre during big rescue operations and help in fast decision-making.

He also instructed that the training unit of SDRF should not be limited to just training. Instead, it should work as a “Technical Guide Unit” during actual rescue missions. This will help the field teams with expert advice and make rescue operations more safe and effective.

Earlier, he also visited the SDRF post at Sahastradhara, where he reviewed the team’s preparations. He instructed that this post should be made stronger for quick disaster response in the capital area.

IG Arun Mohan Joshi said that SDRF is always ready and alert to protect the people of Uttarakhand. He promised that teams working in tough conditions will be given the best tools, technology, and training to handle any disaster properly.
