Mussoorie, 13 Feb: The Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) took major action against illegal construction on the Mussoorie Kimari Motorway, seizing an under-construction building. This action was taken in compliance with the orders of SDM Rahul Anand.

According to information received from the authority, one Rohit Pundir was carrying out construction work on the Kimari Motorway without an approved map. After receiving a complaint, the MDDA team inspected the site and found the construction to be unauthorised. Following this, the building was sealed and seized as per the rules. During the action, the authority’s Assistant Engineer Ajay Malik, JE Anurag Nautiyal, Uday Negi, and Supervisor Indradev Nautiyal were present at the site, along with police.

Officials clarified that no construction without map approval will be tolerated in the area.
According to sources, the builder was previously issued a notice instructing him to stop construction, but he ignored the orders and continued. Following this, the authority took a strict stance and sealed the site.
The Kimari Motorway is the main connecting road to Mussoorie. Uncontrolled construction in this area not only disrupts traffic but also adversely impacts the environmental balance. Ignoring rules in hilly areas can also lead to problems like landslides and drainage.
MDDA officials stated that the campaign against illegal construction in the city and surrounding areas will continue. Violators will face action including sealing, challans and demolition. The authority has appealed to the public to obtain map approval and adhere to regulations before undertaking any construction. Otherwise, be prepared for strict action.
