Dehradun, 29 Aug: In a crackdown on unauthorised gas cylinder refilling, the Dehradun District Administration seized a total of 34 cylinders along with associated equipment during a raid conducted in the Aamwala locality here today. The action was initiated following a series of complaints regarding illegal refilling activities in the area, following which District Magistrate Savin Bansal directed the District Supply Officer (DSO) to undertake immediate enforcement measures.
Acting upon these instructions, a team from the Supply Department, led by DSO KK Agarwal, carried out a raid at a premises situated near MB Home, Ganga Tower and Tapovan in Aamwala. The operation resulted in the confiscation of 19 domestic and 15 commercial gas cylinders, in addition to two gas refilling kits and two pieces of cloth used in the process. An electronic weighing scale was also seized during the raid. All items have been sealed on-site as per procedural norms.
According to the district administration, the preliminary findings indicate that the refilling activity was being carried out in contravention of provisions under the Essential Commodities Act. Consequently, the District Supply Office lodged a formal complaint against the persons involved at Raipur police station, initiating legal proceedings.
The raid was executed by a joint team comprising Regional Food Officer Ajaypal Singh and Supply Inspectors Shashank Chaudhary and Rajat Negi. It was ensured that the operation is conducted in a swift and coordinated manner.
