DEHRADUN, 6 Jun: An illegal mazar constructed in the VIP Yamuna Colony was demolished late Friday night as part of the State government’s ongoing drive against encroachments on public land. The action followed complaints lodged by the local residents with the district administration regarding the unauthorised structure.
The officials stated that a notice had been pasted on the site a month earlier, giving time for voluntary removal of the encroachment. As no action was taken, the administration proceeded with demolition. The land has now been taken back into government possession.
City Magistrate Pratyush Singh said that the drive was carried out under the directions of District Magistrate Ashish Chauhan. The joint operation involved the Municipal Corporation, Irrigation Department and police administration, who ensured the site was cleared without incident. He added that no remains or relics were found at the location during the demolition.
The City Magistrate emphasised that the state government has instructed that all structures built with the intent of illegal occupation of government land will be removed without exception and he urged the encroachers to vacate voluntarily to avoid coercive action.
