Haridwar, 22 Mar: Independent MLA from Khanpur, Umesh Kumar filed his nomination as an independent candidate from the Haridwar Lok Sabha seat yesterday. Umesh Kumar reached Roshanabad headquarters to file his nomination. He arrived at the Nomination Centre following a long road show that began from Roorkee and terminated at the nomination centre.

Sources close to Kumar claim that he had been lobbying for the Congress ticket from Haridwar and had also called on Selja Kumari in New Delhi some days ago in this regard. He reportedly also lobbied for the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ticket after being ignored by the Congress.

Today however, after filing his nomination, Kumar targeted, both, the ruling BJP and the Congress and accused these national parties of continuously discriminating against Haridwar.

Speaking to the media person, Kumar claimed that the leaders of both the parties come to Haridwar during the elections like migratory birds flying from Delhi and after winning the elections they do not even look back.

Not only this, Umesh Kumar also described Harish Rawat, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Trivendra Singh Rawat as migratory birds. He claimed that he would contest the elections by making unemployment and corruption an issue and will win comfortably from here.
