Dehradun, 22 Jun: In a groundbreaking move towards environmental conservation, the Janki Devi Educational Welfare Society, in collaboration with the Uttarakhand Pollution Control Board, has launched a unique initiative. As part of this initiative, eco-friendly car trash bin bags will be distributed free of cost to pilgrims visiting the Kedarnath and Badrinath shrines.

This effort aims to keep the sacred hill regions of the state clean and safe. The bags will aid in managing significant amounts of waste, thereby promoting environmental protection. Uttarakhand Police is extending full support to this campaign.

The key highlights are:

  1. Eco-Friendly Bags: These bags are made from special materials that are environmentally sustainable and non-toxic.
  2. Contribution of Local Women: The bags are crafted by underprivileged women from Uttarakhand, providing them with a source of livelihood.
  3. Free Distribution: The bags will be distributed to all tourists visiting the state at no cost.
  4. Cleanliness and Preservation: This initiative will not only support environmental protection but also help maintain the natural beauty of the hill regions.

Distribution Programme: Under this initiative, the distribution of the bags took place on Sunday at Kothal Gate, Dehradun.

The bags were handed out by IG, Garhwal, Rajeev Swaroop.

In this Initiative, the interns of UPES have also made a very important contribution with the organisation.

Janki Devi Educational Welfare Society has been tirelessly working towards environmental conservation and community development. This initiative will contribute to establishing Uttarakhand as a clean and safe tourist destination.

It has urged all tourists to support this initiative by using the provided bags for proper waste disposal. It appreciated the efforts of local women through this campaign and contribution to keeping Uttarakhand pristine and beautiful.
