Mussoorie, 18 May: Wynberg-Allen School hosted the Inter School Cultural Festival, ‘Capta Caelum – Reach for the Sky 2019’. Participants from a number of Dehradun and Mussoorie schools competed in the events organised during the day long festival.
The events included ‘Stand up and stand out!’, ‘Plan-a-Playlet’, ‘In focus’ – a photography competition, ‘Headgear Designing and Dress’ on the theme Rajputana, ‘Bollywood Retro’ – Hindi Duet, ‘Riveting Rhapsodies’ – the band, ‘Code 19’ website designing, and ‘Tarang’ – a folk dance competition. The events were organised and managed by the students of the host school. As per the custom, Wynberg-Allen being the host school did not compete for individual positions or for the Overall Trophy.
Tarang, the folk dance competition, was greatly enjoyed and appreciated by the audience. St Jude’s School won the folk dance event with its thrilling performance. The team consisting of Harshricha, Kashish, Anushka, Kritika and Vaishnavi performed the Jogva dance, which is a Maharashtrian Jagar dedicated to Yellama Mata. Devisha, Roopal, Ayoniza, Chalsi and Disha from Unison World School amazed the audience with their performance in Tarang and stood second in the competition. Unison World School also stood first in Code’ 19 – a website designing competition. St Jude’s School was first in Bollywood Retro and Ensemble. The splendid performance by Kushagra and Khush of St Jude’s School thrilled the audience in Hindi Duet event.
The band competition, Riveting Rhapsodies, was won by Ardas Kaur, Pichaya, Carona and Aditi Gautam from Unison World School. Stand Up to Stand Out and Decoration De Parapluie events were won by students of Tula’s International School, Dehradun. The events Es Petra and in Focus were won by St George’s College, Mussoorie. The Lawrence School, Sanawar, was first in the Plan-a-Playlet event.
The Overall Trophy for the event was shared by St Georges’ College, Mussoorie, and St Judes’ School, Dehradun, both schools scoring equal points for the First position. Unison World School was the runner up in the competition.
Present on the occasion were Anand Prakash, the entrepreneur- creative head of Anand Prakash and an alumnus, Arjun Kaintura, alumnus and Station Director – Radio Khushi 90.4 FM, and Nupur Karanwal Kaintura, programming head and RJ at Radio Khushi and winner of many prominent awards. Mr Radcliffe, Headmaster, Senior School, introduced the chief guest on the occasion. They guests awarded the trophies and certificates to the winners.
Principal L Tindale congratulated the winners and thanked the organising committee, especially school captains Tanisha and Hitesh, Vahiste, Sridip, Kunsel, Abriti, Merin, Ushoshi, Samanvey and Sampriti for making the event a success.
