Almora, 22 May: An International Exhibition and Conference on Art and Culture in hybrid mode was inaugurated in the Faculty of Visual Art under the aegis of Soban Singh Jeena University and Co-sponsored by WAYSACLP in the Department of Fine Arts, SSJ University campus, here, today.
Dr Ashish Kumar Srivastava, Additional Secretary, Higher Education, Uttarakhand, was the Chief Guest. Others who graced the occasion were Padma Shri awardee Dr Yashodhar Mathpal, founder, Lok Sanskriti Museum, Bhimtal; Padma Shri awardee Prof Shyam Sharma from Patna, Bihar; Padma Shri awardee Dr Vijay Sharma, Chamba, Himachal Pradesh; Padma Shri awardee Dr Lalit Pandey, Uttarakhand Seva Nidhi, Almora; and Ragini Upadhyay, former Chancellor, Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Nepal.
An exhibition of paintings by invited artists from around the globe and student artists of the university commenced on 21 May, followed by a conference/ seminar that was inaugurated at the Visual Arts Gallery/ Conference Hall of the Faculty of Visual Art and Drawing and Painting Department of SSJ Almora. The Vice Chancellor of SSJ University, Professor Satpal Singh Bisht showed his magnanimity by promising funds for the grand academic event, wherein invitee art scholars and experts from across the country participated.
Paintings, Sculptures, Installations and folk pieces by participating artists who represent India and a few more countries were exhibited. These were viewed and appreciated by visiting eminent personalities and audience, alike. Talks, presentations, and discussions with question-and-answer sessions on arts and culture were conducted. The series of presentations and talks included 21 topics. Over seventy participants from across the world took part in the exhibition.
