Dehradun, 24 Oct: BJP state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan today claimed that the policy and intentions of the party are clear. The public needs to have some patience regarding the land law, as the government is going to bring a strict law soon in line with public sentiments.

He reminded that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had already expressed his commitment to this law during the budget session of the state assembly.

Chauhan claimed that the process regarding a strict land law has started, and the draft has been submitted to the CM. He added that before the strong land law is enacted, an administrative investigation of all illegal land purchases by outsiders is underway and all District Magistrates have been instructed accordingly. The BJP government is fully committed to freeing every inch of land from land mafia and illegal buyers.

Chauhan claimed that CM Dhami is fully aware about the land rights of the people of the state. He has made it clear that those who have exceeded the 250 square metre limit set under the existing law and those who have not followed the stated objectives while acquiring the land will be subject to action.

Chauhan emphasised that, before the law comes into force, it is crucial to gather accurate data and information about where and in which cases the conditions of land purchase permission have been violated by outsiders. This investigation process will clarify where the land purchase permission given under Section 154 (4) (3) (b) of the Uttar Pradesh Zamindari Abolition and Land Management Act 1950, has been misused in Uttarakhand. If the permission is found to be misused in the investigation, then that land will be vested with the state government.

He stated that the BJP and the government are fully committed to bringing strict land laws keeping in view the public sentiments. This has been an important part of the election manifesto, and to implement it, a high-level expert committee had been constituted on this issue as soon as the government was established, similar to the UCC. All the legal and constitutional aspects of the report submitted by the committee are being considered. The CM has also set a timeline for the land law. Chauhan alleged that Congress intends to bring back the land mafia law implemented during the Tiwari government, which is why it is opposing the land law.

People who have faith in the policy and intentions of the BJP need to have some patience, he asserted.
