DEHRADUN, 2 Jan: Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Uttarakhand Government’s flagship initiative “Jan–Jan Ki Sarkar, Jan–Jan Ke Dwar” has emerged as a strong symbol of good governance, responsive administration, and swift grievance redressal in the state. The programme has not only brought about a qualitative transformation in administrative functioning but has also effectively bridged the long-standing gap between the government and the common citizen. The daily progress report of the programme held on Friday, clearly reflects that the state government has moved beyond paperwork-driven schemes and is successfully delivering tangible outcomes at the grassroots level.
Across all 13 districts of the state, a total of 204 public service camps were organized in a single day, witnessing direct participation from more than 135,194 citizens. Such overwhelming public engagement reaffirms that the programme is closely aligned with the real needs of the people and has been embraced by citizens with complete trust and confidence. Through these camps, the administration reached the doorsteps of the people for the first time on such a large scale, ensuring that residents of rural, hilly, and remote areas were spared the hardship of repeatedly visiting district or tehsil headquarters for resolution of their grievances.
During the programme, a total of 17,747 complaints and applications were received, out of which 12,776 cases were resolved on the spot or through immediate administrative action. This figure indicates that nearly three-fourths of the grievances were addressed promptly, clearly demonstrating administrative efficiency, decisive governance, and accountability. The remaining cases have been forwarded to the concerned departments under a time-bound action plan and are being continuously monitored to ensure that no grievance remains pending.
The camps also received a total of 19,734 applications related to income, caste, domicile, social category, and other essential certificates. This highlights that citizens are no longer facing unnecessary delays or procedural hurdles in accessing basic government services. By bringing services closer to the people, the government’s initiative has proved especially beneficial for the poor, marginalized, and residents of remote regions.
In addition, under various welfare schemes, direct benefits were extended to as many as 77,203 citizens. This substantial figure stands as concrete evidence that government schemes are no longer confined to announcements alone but are reaching eligible beneficiaries in real terms. By providing access to social security, pensions, healthcare, education, and other welfare schemes on a single platform, the government has significantly strengthened both public convenience and administrative transparency.
The remarkable success of this programme is rooted in the clear, firm, and result-oriented directives issued by Chief Minister. From the very outset, the Chief Minister ensured that officials went into the field to resolve public issues instead of summoning citizens to government offices. He made it mandatory for decision-making officers to be present at every camp and directed that grievances be resolved at the primary level wherever possible. Regular monitoring of pending cases at district and state levels, prioritization of vulnerable sections including the elderly, persons with disabilities, and residents of remote areas, and strict accountability for administrative negligence collectively transformed the governance machinery into a more sensitive, proactive, and people-centric system.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated, “Jan–Jan Ki Sarkar, Jan–Jan Ke Dwar’ is a transformative campaign that is redefining the very mindset of governance in Uttarakhand. Our government firmly believes that democracy becomes truly strong only when the government itself reaches out to the people. Through this programme, we have ensured that even the person standing at the last mile receives the benefits of government schemes and services without any obstacles. This is not merely a programme, but Uttarakhand’s model of good governance founded on trust, solutions, and sensitivity.”
The Chief Minister further emphasized that this extensive outreach initiative has not only strengthened public trust in the administration but has also imposed an effective check on middlemen and corruption. With the establishment of direct communication between the government and citizens, a culture of swift problem-solving has taken root, leading to a significant enhancement in transparency and credibility of governance. Today, “Jan–Jan Ki Sarkar, Jan–Jan Ke Dwar” has become a new identity of good governance in Uttarakhand and will continue to serve as a milestone in the state’s journey towards inclusive development and public welfare in the years to come.
