Dehradun, 28 Aug: Srijan Public School celebrated Lords Krishna’s birthday, Janmashtami with great pomp, during which a large number of junior students came dressed as Lord Krishna and Radha and sang devotional songs.
Brig KG Behl (Retd) was the Chief Guest. Coincidentally, he was also born on Janmashtami day.
Dr Sapna Dobhal, an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna and a highly successful professional, along with Veena Dangwal, an educationist, were the Guests of Honour. After puja and other rituals, a number of songs and plays on the life of Lord Krishna were presented. The most colourful was when all the children attired in colourful dresses came on stage and were widely applauded. Handi breaking was also done, which all appreciated.
The Srijan School in Engineers Enclave, Jakhan, where most of the students are from poorer sections of society, is now a full-fledged English Medium State Board school up to grade 8.
The Principal, Renu Sethi, along with Mrs Bhatia, the Chairperson and founder of Yog Shakti Education Society, are carrying it forward.
