Dehradun, 21 Jul: The government has claimed that its campaign to provide direct employment opportunities to the State’s youth in foreign countries is gaining further momentum under the direction of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. As part of the State Government’s efforts to connect young people with overseas employment opportunities, a Japanese delegation visited the Regional Employment Office at Survey Chowk, Dehradun, and Doon University today.
The delegation comprised Hidetaro Usui, Mai Ikuta and Mihoko Matsumoto, all of them representatives of Anaduki Global Career Company Limited, Japan. The visit is being seen as an important step towards giving fresh momentum to cooperation between Uttarakhand and Japan in the fields of skill development, Japanese language training and international employment.
During the visit, the Japanese representatives reviewed the language and skill training programmes being provided to the youth by the State Government and examined the manner in which Uttarakhand is preparing its young people for employment opportunities in the global market. They also explored sectors in which skilled youth from Uttarakhand can potentially secure employment opportunities in Japan.
During their visit to the Regional Employment Office, the Japanese delegation interacted with candidates undergoing Japanese language training under the Chief Minister’s Skill Upgradation and Global Employment Scheme. The representatives also sought information about the candidates’ proficiency in Japanese, technical skills and preparations for overseas employment. They also provided the trainees with guidance on correct Japanese pronunciation, practical communication and corporate ethics, besides familiarising them with various aspects of Japanese work culture.
The delegation informed the trainees that Japan is currently witnessing a demand for skilled workers with knowledge of the Japanese language in several sectors, including information technology, hospitality, engineering and caregiving. The representatives said that language proficiency, technical competence and an understanding of the work culture are important for young people seeking to build successful careers in Japan.
Director, Employment, Narendra Singh Bhandari observed that the State Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, is continuously working to provide the youth with global employment opportunities. Through the Chief Minister’s Skill Upgradation and Global Employment Scheme, young people are being provided training in foreign languages along with the skills required for international work culture and employment.
He said the visit of representatives of reputed Japanese companies to Uttarakhand is a positive indication for the youth of the State and would help create better employment opportunities for them abroad. He added that such interactions would also help the State understand the changing requirements of the international employment market and accordingly strengthen its training programmes.
At Doon University, the Japanese delegation held discussions with the faculty members of the Japanese Language Department and officials associated with the university’s placement activities. The meeting focused on making Japanese language education more effective and employment-oriented, promoting academic cooperation and expanding opportunities for higher education and employment in Japan for students from Uttarakhand.
The representatives said that knowledge of the Japanese language alone is not sufficient for building a successful career in Japan. An understanding of the country’s work culture, social behaviour, lifestyle and cultural values is equally important for foreign workers seeking to adapt to the Japanese professional environment. The two sides also agreed on the need to further strengthen the academic and skill development cooperation in the future.
CM’s Additional Secretary Manmohan Mainali said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the State Government is continuously working to provide employment opportunities to the youth not only within the country but also abroad. He said the cooperation being established with Japan and other countries would play an important role in opening new avenues of quality employment and career opportunities for the youth of Uttarakhand.
Mainali said the Japanese delegation have appreciated the efforts being made by the State Government in the fields of skill development, language training and overseas employment. He said further efforts would be made to make education and skill development programmes more effective so that the youth of Uttarakhand could prepare themselves in accordance with the requirements of the global employment market and secure better employment opportunities abroad.
Deputy Director Chandrakanta, Nodal Officer Vinita Badoni, Learnet Skills State Head Ramesh Petwal, Doon University Assistant Professor of Japanese Language Dr Deepika Bhatia, Placement Cell In-charge Dr Swati Bisht and others were among those also present on the occasion.
