Dehradun, 22 Apr: In its “Interaction with the Writer” series, the Department of English, Doon University, invited Kamna Chandra for a discussion with the undergrad English Honours students, those pursuing Master’s Degree and research students.
She was accompanied by her illustrious husband, Navin Chandra, the rock-solid support behind her illustrious career as a film writer. She has very interesting movies to her credit like Chandni, 1942, A Love Story, Prem Rog, Gaj Gamini, Kareeb and Qarib Qarib Single, to name a few.
Kamna is an alumna of MKP College from 1946 till 1949 in Dehradun. She rose to fame with Prem Rog, her debut in commercial cinema.
Talking about her films, Kamna apprised how she picked up the storyline from her daily experiences as well as what is happening in society. She motivated students to be honest to their own selves to achieve greater heights. She is not only an illustrious
writer, but also the mother of illustrious writer of international repute,
Vikram Chandra of Sacred Games fame, eminent film critic Anupama Chopra, and Tanuja Chandra, film director of Dushman, Sangharsh and Qarib Qarib Single fame.
The programme was conducted by the students of the Department of English under the guidance of Dr Chetana Pokhriyal, Dr Manjulika, Dr Gazala Khan and Dr Aditi. It was also attended by Shubhra Kukreti, Mehul, Aporva, Ambika, and Ayush Kurien among others.
