Dehradun, 22 Jun: An inquiry ordered by the State Information Commission has revealed that the summer capital of the state Gairsain is under the grip of encroachment. Large scale encroachment is going on in Gairsain but the administration seems oblivious or indifferent about it. The encroachment in Gairsain was revealed in the investigation report of the joint team of Revenue and Nagar Panchayat constituted to investigate encroachment in Gairsain on the orders of State Information Commissioner Yogesh Bhatt.
The orders regarding investigation of encroachments were issued by State Information Commissioner Yogesh Bhatt while hearing an appeal in this respect. The joint team has submitted the report of a partial part of Gairsain to the Commission on the basis of lack of time. On confirmation of encroachment in the investigation report, the Commission has stressed the need to take the encroachment in Gairsain seriously and called it a big challenge for the future.
State Information Commissioner Yogesh Bhatt has directed the Sub-District Magistrate Gairsain to prepare a report of encroachment/occupation on government land in the entire Gairsain. He also directed the authority to bring the report related to encroachment on government land in Gairsain to the notice of Chief Secretary, Secretary Revenue, Secretary Urban Development and District Magistrate Chamoli.
Bhatt has also informed the government about the decision of an appeal by informing about the information of encroachment in Gairsain. The commission has expressed concern over non-preparation of a report on encroachment in the entire Gairsain. He stressed that a serious approach is mandated regarding the encroachment taking place there for the sake of future of Gairsain. The commission gave this decision in the appeal made by Gairsain resident Radhakrishna Kala regarding the desired information regarding encroachment. The commission had directed the SDM Gairsain to prepare a report from the joint team of Revenue and Nagar Panchayat to prepare the report of encroachment in Gairsain.
