Maharaj expresses gratitude to PM for promoting winter tourism

Dehradun, 30 Nov: Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for promoting winter tourism by describing the winter season as the “Golden Time of the Himalayas” in the 128th episode of Mann Ki Baat. He said that the Prime Minister has declared Uttarakhand as the new superstar of winter tourism.

To listen to the 128th episode of Mann Ki Baat, Cabinet Minister Satpal Maharaj participated along with BJP workers and party office bearers on Sunday at the residence of former Information Commissioner JP Mamgain and Society President Namita Mamgain, located at Vasant Vihar Enclave Booth No. 51, Maa Nanda Devi Mandal, Ward 37, in the Cantt Assembly constituency.

On this occasion, he said that in the 128th episode of Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister discussed Uttarakhand’s winter tourism in detail and mentioned tourist destinations such as Auli, Munsiyari, Chopta and Dayara. His message would surely attract more tourists to Uttarakhand. In the programme, PM Modi also invited tourists to visit Uttarakhand during winter while highlighting activities such as skiing, snowboarding, ice climbing, snow trekking, and family snow parks.

After the programme, Maharaj said that the Prime Minister’s mention of the high-altitude ultra-run marathon held for the first time at an elevation of over 14,000 feet in Pithoragarh district, and the 60-km-long Adi Kailash Parikrama, will give a significant boost to adventure tourism. Referring to PM Modi’s earlier visit to Adi Kailash, he said that the number of tourists visiting Adi Kailash has increased tremendously after the Prime Minister’s pilgrimage.

The Cabinet Minister further said that, in the episode of Mann Ki Baat, the Prime Minister not only promoted winter sports in Uttarakhand but also highlighted the rising popularity of destination weddings during winter. Under the ‘Wed in India’ campaign, he has drawn people’s attention to organising weddings at Uttarakhand’s picturesque mountain wedding destinations.

During the programme, BJP Mandal President Sumit Pandey, Mandal Vice President Santosh Kothiyal, Booth President Laxmi Chand, Shakti Kendra Convenor Bhagwan Singh Rawat, Rohit Mishra, Akash, Vidya Bahuguna, Dr Basanti Mathpal, Anshul Sharma, Kiran Dhyani, Rekha, Bindu Uniyal, Monika Oberai and many other BJP workers were present.
