Dehradun, 11 Jun: Over the last five years, ‘Mahila Maitri’ has been honouring women working for society. This year, Rita Pant, who is herself recovering from cancer and works for needy cancer patients, was honoured with the ‘Tinchari Mai Samman’ on Monday.
The programme began with lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Patron Savita Kapoor, President Bharati Pande and Secretary Aruna Chawla.
Bharati Pande recalled that Tinchari Mai fought against alcoholism in Garhwal villages. Savitri Kala, Maheshwari Kaneri, Sunita Chauhan, Shakuntala Verma, Neelamprabha Verma and Vina Joshi recited poems on the occasions.
Aruna Chawla conducted the programme, while Manali proposed the vote of thanks.
