DEHRADUN, 29 Jan: It is one of the major responsibilities of the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) to identify and demolish illegal plotting in the city. Unless this is done, there can be no guarantee of planned development of the city and its colonies. For this, there is the condition of preapproval of housing colonies so that the necessary width of the roads, and other civic amenities, are ensured in line with the Master Plan of the city. However, there are reports of several illegal plotting sites coming up in various parts of the city and, ironically, individual maps are being allegedly approved by the MDDA without the colony having the necessary sanctions. It is reported that one such illegal plotting has come up on the Post Office Road in Clement Town. It is learnt that an old kothi has demolished and the land has been divided into multiple small plots on this road near Char Khamba Chowk. It is being alleged that maps for houses on these plots have been approved by the MDDA in violation of its own bylaws. The sizes of these plots vary between 49 square metres and 250 square metres. It has also been alleged that the plotting has not been approved by RERA (Real Estate Regulatory Authority). In fact, a complaint in this regard has been registered with RERA and the matter is being heard. One Rohit Yadav had on 19 December, 2019, filed a written complaint with the MDDA about this irregular colony. However, so far, no action has been taken on this by the MDDA, it is alleged. The complainant has further stated that MDDA has approved a map on a 49 square metre plot despite the complaint. various parts of the city and, ironically, individual maps are being allegedly approved by the MDDA without the colony having the necessary sanctions.
