Minister Joshi reviews functioning of Departments in Kathgodam

Haldwani/Nainital, 11 Dec: During his Kumaon tour on Thursday, State Minister for Agriculture, Rural Development and Sainik Welfare Ganesh Joshi conducted a review meeting of the Agriculture, Horticulture, Sainik Welfare and Rural Development departments of Nainital district at the Circuit House, Kathgodam. He obtained detailed information about various central and state government schemes and issued necessary directives to officials.

Minister Joshi said that schemes such as Lakhpati Didi, Palaayan Roktham Yojana, Apple Mission, Kiwi Mission, Natural Farming, Bee Keeping, Honey Village Development, and Polyhouse establishment play a vital role in strengthening the livelihoods of farmers and rural women. He directed officials to ensure 100% implementation of these schemes and timely delivery of benefits to eligible beneficiaries.

He instructed immediate settlement of pending claims under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana to provide timely relief to farmers. Emphasising the importance of reviewing the quality of agricultural tools being distributed, he gave strict instructions that materials provided to farmers must be useful and durable. He also directed meeting the targets set at the Nyaya Panchayat level and ensuring timely availability of seeds, fertilisers, and pesticides. He instructed land conservation officials to regularly monitor geo-line tanks and stressed increasing millet production in the district. He also warned all officers not to attend meetings unprepared.

During the review of the Rural Development Department, Minister Joshi instructed that more beneficiaries be linked to the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Yojana. He directed that the benefits of schemes under the RIP Project be extended widely to the general public. He emphasised strengthening coordination between Agriculture, Horticulture, and Rural Development departments and maintaining continuous dialogue with public representatives.

Reviewing the Sainik Welfare Department, the Minister instructed that the land-related processes for the hostel being built in Haldwani for the dependants and children of martyrs be completed within 15 days through a joint inspection, and that the estimate be sent promptly. He also directed the preparation of estimates for the reconstruction of the District Sainik Rest House and office, terming it essential.

Minister Ganesh Joshi announced that the hostel being constructed in Haldwani for the dependants and children of martyrs will be named after the late General BC Joshi. He also said that a grand gateway at the entrance of Haldwani will be constructed in his name. The Minister issued necessary directives to the Kumaon Commissioner and the District Magistrate of Nainital to complete the related construction work within a set timeline. He said that this initiative will help future generations remember the contributions and sacrifices of martyrs.

On this occasion, Kumaon Commissioner Deepak Rawat, District Magistrate Lalit Mohan Rayal, and other departmental officials were also present.
