Minister Joshi welcomes Cabinet decision on Self-Help Group Empowerment Scheme

Dehradun, 3 Mar: The Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved new provisions under the Mukhyamantri Self-Help Group Empowerment Scheme.

Reacting to this decision, Rural Development Minister Ganesh Joshi stated that the government is continuously working towards fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “Lakhpati Didi” vision. He emphasised that the new provisions in this scheme will provide more opportunities for women in the state, empowering them economically. He further stated that this decision marks a significant step toward making women self-reliant and financially strong. The minister expressed gratitude to Chief Minister and the Cabinet for this progressive initiative.

Under the Uttarakhand State Rural Livelihood Mission, various groups, village organisations, and cluster organisations will be covered under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Self-Help Group Empowerment Scheme. Earlier, Chief Minister Dhami had made five key announcements regarding this scheme: 1. Rs 2.30 crore will be allocated for the scheme; 2. Rs 15.40 crore will be set aside for business activities of women at the Cluster Level Federation (CLF); 3. Rs 25 lakh will be used to establish Rural Business Incubators in Almora and Kotdwar to support the “Lakhpati Didi” initiative; 4. Rs 75 lakh will be allocated for digital MIS (Management Information System); and 5. Rs 11.12 lakh per fair will be provided as matching grants for two national-level SARAS fairs to be held in the state.
