Rudraprayag, 21 Oct: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today visited Kedarnath and offered prayers at the Shrine and also performed Rudrabhishek. Narendra Modi reached Baba Kedar’s Dham for the 6th time after becoming the Prime Minister. He had darshan after reaching the Samadhi site of Adiguru Shankaracharya.
Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami were present on the occasion.
After offering prayers at the shrine, the PM laid the foundation stone of the ropeway project of a length of 9.7 km from Gaurikund to be built at a cost of Rs 1,267 crore. With the construction of this ropeway, it would become easier for the devotees to have darshan of Baba Kedar. At present, it takes 6 to 7 hours for pilgrims to reach Kedarnath from Gaurikund. With the construction of this ropeway, this journey will be completed in just half an hour.
After this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inspected the development works by visiting the Mandakini Aastha Path and Saraswati Aastha Path. On this occasion, he also took stock of the various reconstruction and development works going on in Kedarnath. He also halted for a while at the Samadhi of Adi Guru Shankaracharya on this occasion.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami briefed the Prime Minister on the progress of various development works. The Prime Minister sat down with the workers engaged in the reconstruction work in Kedarnath and encouraged them.
On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Prem Chandra Agarwal, MLA Shaila Rani Rawat, Chief Secretary Dr SS Sandhu, District Magistrate, Rudraprayag, Mayur Dixit, SP Ayush Agarwal, Teerth Purohit Vinod Shukla, Laxmi Narayan, Kuber Nath and other dignitaries were also present.
