Dehradun, 4 Mar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Harsil and Mukhba in district Uttarkashi on 6 March to promote pilgrimage and tourism. Due to bad weather, PM Modi’s visit to Uttarkashi district in the last week of February was postponed. Now, the Prime Minister’s visit has been finalised, and the district administration has completed preparations for his arrival. The visit has been finalised despite the bad weather prevailing in the area. Sources confirmed that there has been a slight change in the PM’s earlier programme. Now, the programme has been rescheduled without having a night stay in the itinerary. Sources claimed that bad weather might have played a role in cancellation of the proposed night stay of Modi in Harsil.

According to the programme released by the PMO, Prime Minister Modi will reach Harshil on 6 March at around 9 a.m. and will offer prayers at the Mukhba temple. After that, he will spend some time viewing the Himalayas from there and, later, he is scheduled to address a public meeting. During this time, Modi will also visit an exhibition related to autumn pilgrimage and tourism and send off a team of trekkers to the Himalayas. Modi is scheduled to return to Delhi around 1:30 p.m.

Governor Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd), and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will welcome PM Modi at Jolly Grant Airport and accompany him to Harsil. Union Minister of State for Road Transport Ajay Tamta will also be present at the event.

It is reported that cabinet members of Dhami Government will not go to Uttarkashi. Earlier, when PM Modi was scheduled to come to Uttarakhand, it was said that he would stay for one night, but then, his programme was postponed due to bad weather.

PM Modi will stay in the Harsil area for about two and a half hours on a one-day visit. Modi will perform puja at Mukhaba, the winter abode of Goddess Ganga. Apart from this, he will flag off a bike rally and trekking team from Harsil.

PM Modi will also visit an exhibition of local products in Harsil and address a public meeting there. CM Dhami has claimed that PM Modi’s arrival will give a new impetus to the winter tourism in the state. His visit to the Harsil area will promote religious and cultural tourism. Uttarkashi DM said that all preparations for PM Modi’s arrival have been completed. It is worth mentioning that snow has recently fallen in the Harsil area. It is expected that after the PM’s arrival, a crowd of tourists will flock to this area.

PM Modi will take off from Delhi Airport at 7:20 a.m. on 6 March. He will take off from Jolly Grant Airport at 8:10 a.m. and land at Harshil’s Army helipad at 9:10 a.m. After participating in various programmes for about two and a half hours, he will leave for Jolly Grant at 11:35 a.m. He will depart for Delhi from Jolly Grant Airport at 12:40 p.m.
