New Delhi, 4 Sep: Anil Baluni, BJP MP from Garhwal and National Media Head of the party, met Union Civil Aviation Minister, KR Naidu, in New Delhi, today.
Baluni urged the Minister to consider expanding air services in the Garhwal Lok Sabha area by connecting Ramnagar, Lansdowne, Pauri, Gopeshwar and Joshimath with Dehradun under the Udan scheme. He also requested that the issues hindering the modernisation of Gauchar (Chamoli) Airport be resolved promptly to ensure smooth air connectivity in the region.
Baluni highlighted that Garhwal, which includes 14 assembly constituencies, is geographically challenging and many areas are among the country’s most remote. Due to frequent natural calamities, connectivity in these areas is often disrupted, affecting road transport and exacerbating the problem of migration. Thus, enhancing air connectivity is crucial for the region.
In response to Baluni’s demands, Civil Aviation Minister Naidu gave a positive reaction and assured prompt action on all the requests.
