Mussoorie, 15 Oct: Following the instructions of District Magistrate Savin Bansal, the administration and police, here, have geared up to operate the multi-level parking for 212 cars built at a cost of Rs 32 crores near the petrol pump 2 km below Mussoorie. For this, the parking was inspected today by officials of the Transport Department, District Administration, Tourism Department, Police, and the Municipality under the leadership of SDM Anamika. Action plans were prepared for operating the parking.

On this occasion, various proposals were put forward by SP, Traffic, Mukesh Thakur regarding the operation of the parking, which were discussed.

The multi-level parking for 212 cars built at a cost of Rs 32 crores was inaugurated by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on 20 December 2021. After the inauguration, the Tourism Department leased out the parking, but the contractor opted out midway.

Once again, after the instructions of the District Magistrate, a contract has been signed for the operation of the multi-level parking and it is expected that, this time, the parking will be operated successfully.

SP Mukesh Thakur said that an action plan is being prepared. The distance of Mussoorie from the parking is about 2 km, and a shuttle service will be started from the parking to Picture Palace and Gandhi Chowk. He said that, on 17 October, the District Magistrate and SSP will also inspect the parking, after which the plan would be finalised. He reminded that traffic jams occur frequently on the Mussoorie-Dehradun Road when Mussoorie is completely full. People park their vehicles on both sides of the main road. This creates traffic jams. He said that along with putting up barriers near the petrol pump, data on all parking lots in and around Mussoorie is being collected. Tere is parking for about two thousand cars in Mussoorie. An app is being prepared for Mussoorie so that the status of parking availability can be known. Once the plan made for parking and traffic management will be systematically implemented, the problem of traffic jams will also be reduced. On this occasion, RTO, Dehradun, Shailesh Tiwari, ARTO Rajendra Viratia, Naib Tehsildar Kamal Rathore, Mussoorie Kotwal Arvind Chaudhary, Executive Officer Rajesh Naithani, Executive Officer Tanveer Singh and many other officers were also present.
