Murusgesan directs improvements in traffic management during Kanwar Yatra

Haridwar, 7 Aug:  ADG, Crime and Law and Order, V Murugesan visited Haridwar today and carried out a detailed inspection of the overall security and traffic management. During his visit, he inspected the Mela Control Room at CCR and reviewed the arrangements through the CCTV surveillance system, taking stock of the situation at sensitive locations, major intersections, national highways and Kanwar pedestrian routes across the district. According to the Police officials, the inspection was aimed at ensuring that the Kanwar Yatra 2026 is conducted safely, peacefully and in an orderly manner,

SSP, Haridwar, Navneet Singh briefed the ADG on the current traffic and diversion plan, the condition of the national highway and Kanwar tracks, and the number of devotees who have already departed with Ganga water for their destinations. Considering the expected surge of devotees and vehicles with the Dak Kanwar, the ADG directed that traffic arrangements be made more effective. He instructed the SSP Haridwar and the SP Traffic to implement the traffic and diversion plan in accordance with the Dak Kanwar schedule and ensure smooth and organised exit of vehicles from various parking sites.

Murugesan emphasised that the safety of devotees remains the highest priority during the Kanwar Yatra. He directed that traffic flow, crowd management and continuous monitoring on major routes be maintained, with all the arrangements kept fully active and coordinated to deal with any emergency situation.
