Mussoorie, 27 Nov: Preparations for the grand celebration of the 100th birth anniversary of the late Indramani Badoni, have intensified in Mussoorie. The Municipal Corporation has initiated beautification work around his statue at Badoni Chowk, creating a festive atmosphere throughout the area. The Municipal Corporation and local organisations are developing special plans to perpetuate the memory of the late Indramani Badoni, who was known for his simplicity, contributions to public movements, and for bringing Uttarakhand’s cultural identity to the world stage.

In this regard, on Monday, the Municipal Corporation’s team arrived at Badoni Chowk and began cleaning, painting, enhancing greenery, and improving lighting. Puran Juyal, President of the Parvatiya Gandhi Indramani Badoni Vichar Smriti Samiti, stated that the committee had sent a letter to the municipality a few days ago requesting beautification of the statue site in view of the centenary celebrations scheduled for 24 December. “The municipality has taken prompt action on our demand and has begun work today,” he said. “We are grateful to Municipal Chairperson Meera Saklani and her team for this.” Former MLA Jot Singh Gunsola, Bhagwan Singh Dhanai, Municipal Chairperson Meera Saklani, social activist Ramesh Rao, along with Executive Engineers Rajat Negi and Rajendra Rawat were present at the site when the work began. They inspected the site together and discussed the necessary arrangements to make the upcoming celebrations memorable. Local residents believe that this beautification work, being undertaken to mark the centenary, is not only a tribute to Badoni but will also give a new identity to the heritage and culture of Mussoorie.
