Mussoorie, 10 Jul: Office-bearers of the ‘Mussoorie Mazdoor Sangh’ have sent a three-point memorandum to the Chief Minister and District Magistrate, Dehradun, through the SDM, Mussoorie. The demands include the conversion of cycle rickshaws into e-rickshaws, and rehabilitation of those displaced from Shifan Court. It has been pointed out that the Chief Minister and local MLA Ganesh Joshi had laid the foundation stone for houses at IDH for the homeless people of Shifan Court, but even after 4 years, these have not been provided.
The Bakery Hill car parking was duly allotted by the municipality to the Secretary of the Mazdoor Sangh from 1995 to May 2023, through which the Sangh used to select hand rickshaw rehabilitated workers and provide them self-employment. It was alleged that the former Municipal Board handed it over to a favoured person. As a result, the municipality is losing revenue worth lakhs of rupees every year. An investigation has been demanded, as also the return of the parking to the Mazdoor Sangh again.
The Mazdoor Sangh has threatened to stage a dharna-demonstration along with all the workers of Mussoorie against the government and administration on 23 July at the Shaheed Sthal, Jhulaghar.
Present on this occasion were Mazdoor Sangh President Ranjit Chauhan, Secretary Sanjay Tamta, Treasurer Virendra Singh and many others.
