Mussoorie, 12 Aug: Politics is heating up in Mussoorie over issues concerning roads, land, and rural development. Aryan Dev Uniyal, State Secretary of the BJP Yuva Morcha and an advocate, met Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and presented several key public grievances regarding the Mussoorie assembly constituency.
The Chief Minister has directed the officials concerned to take necessary action to resolve these issues. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Uniyal stated that the issues facing Mussoorie would not be limited to the mere submission of a memorandum; instead, there would be continuous follow-up with officials to ensure their resolution. He specifically raised the matter of the survey and demarcation of ‘notified’ and ‘de-notified’ land in Mussoorie. He noted that local residents have long been facing difficulties due to unresolved land-related matters, and a permanent solution to many of these cases is possible only after the survey and demarcation process is completed. He urged the Chief Minister to expedite this process and ensure that subsequent actions are taken within a set timeframe.
Uniyal also raised concerns regarding the damaged sections of the Mussoorie-Dehradun road. He remarked that the damage to a significant portion of the road during the rainy season is a serious matter. In hilly regions, roads are not merely a means of transport but a lifeline for the daily lives of locals and the tourism sector. He emphasised that there should be no compromise on quality or negligence in construction work, and the government must fix accountability and take action in such instances. Citing the recent controversy surrounding a bridge under construction in the Nand ki Chowki area, he noted that the government has treated the matter seriously; action has been taken against the officials concerned, and a notice has been issued to the construction company involved. He stated that this clearly demonstrates the government’s resolve not to shy away from taking action against corruption and irregularities in construction projects. The State Secretary of the BJP Yuva Morcha mentioned that issues concerning both Mussoorie town and its surrounding rural areas have been brought to the Chief Minister’s attention. Special emphasis was placed on the need to construct and improve roads and motorable routes in Chamasari, Suvakholi, and nearby villages.
He remarked that the development of Mussoorie should not be confined to the town itself; residents of surrounding villages also deserve better roads, transport facilities, and other basic amenities. Developing rural areas would help curb migration and strengthen the local economy. Aryan Dev Uniyal also commented on the youth protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. He acknowledged the youth’s right to voice their demands democratically but noted that some individuals are attempting to derive political mileage from such movements. He asserted that attempts to politicise issues or cast doubt on the democratic system are unacceptable. He claimed that the nation’s youth stand with the BJP and are closely observing the performance of both the central and state governments.
Uniyal also responded to social media speculation regarding BJP MLAs potentially losing their tickets for the 2027 assembly elections. He noted that, while various rumours circulate on social media, not every discussion is grounded in fact. He pointed out that speculation about tickets is rife even now, whereas the party is already engaged in its own election preparations. He asserted that such talk would have no impact on the BJP’s electoral prospects. Uniyal confidently predicted that the BJP would once again form a government with a full majority in Uttarakhand in 2027. He stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the government is actively addressing public issues, and the results of these efforts will be evident in the upcoming elections. He added that when the ballot boxes are opened in 2027, the public’s verdict will be clear, and the ‘lotus’ will bloom in favour of the BJP. According to him, the government—led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Centre and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in the state—is working on issues concerning the common people. He stated that the BJP government is focused on implementing development schemes on the ground and ensuring their benefits reach the last person in line. Regarding Mussoorie, he affirmed that he would continue to raise issues with the government and officials to resolve the problems faced by both urban and rural areas.
