Dehradun, 14 Apr: The 12th of April marked a special and memorable day for Bajaj Institute of Learning for the Deaf, as the institution inaugurated its new school building, celebrating 26 years of dedicated service towards empowering deaf children.
What began as a humble initiative with a vision to support and encourage the deaf so they could live with dignity has today grown into a strong and vibrant community. Few could have imagined the scale at which the institution would expand, impacting countless lives through education, skill development, and advocacy.
The occasion was graced by Chief Guest Raj Shekhar Joshi, along with Chairperson Mrs Bajaj and Principal Dr Puneet Basur. Members of the management and Board of Directors were also present, making the event a significant gathering of those who have contributed to the institute’s journey. The continued support of partners such as Lenskart, along with many silent donors, was acknowledged with gratitude for their invaluable role in achieving this milestone.

Over the years, the institute has evolved from providing basic education to ensuring holistic development, including vocational training and successful placement opportunities for its alumni. Equally important has been its effort in sensitising workplaces, promoting equal opportunities, and enabling individuals with hearing impairment to work and grow with confidence and dignity.
A highlight of the event was a musical performance by the students titled “Resonance – A Journey Beyond Sound”. The presentation beautifully conveyed that expression goes beyond spoken words, and that determination, emotion, and talent can transcend all barriers. It delivered a powerful message of inclusion, resilience, and the limitless potential of every individual, regardless of physical limitations.
While the institute celebrates this significant achievement, it remains aware that the journey ahead is filled with new challenges. Growth brings with it greater responsibility, and the commitment to empowering the deaf community continues with renewed determination.
The inauguration stands not just as the opening of a new building, but as a testament to perseverance, vision, and the collective effort of a community that believes in creating a more inclusive and equitable society.
